The major objective in youth lessons is to provide a structured, yet enjoyable learning environment. The proven PBI teaching concepts combine professional instruction with fun games and competition, to develop a lasting enjoyment for the game of tennis, as well as a willingness to improve.
Mr. Pee Wee (Ages 4-5)
Classes are designed to introduce the game of tennis to 4-5 year olds. The special equipment used allows youngsters to enjoy and learn the game at their own level. As skills develop, actual play striking is added.
Tennis For Tykes I (Ages 5-6) & Tennis for Tykes II (Ages 7-9)
Classes stress coordination and judgment while teaching control and awareness of the tennis racquet and ball. Children learn how to work in a group environment and follow instructions. As skills develop, stroking is added.
Junior Beginner (Ages 10-18)
For the junior player with no previous tennis experience. Students will be introduced to the basic strokes of the game with emphasis on making solid contact with the ball. Students will learn the general rules of the game, scoring procedures and general court positioning for singles and doubles.
Junior Intermediate (Ages 10-18)
For players with some previous lesson or playing background, these juniors have reasonably good stroking ability, but need to learn to keep the ball in play and use more variation of direction, spin and depth. An emphasis on power and a more aggressive style of play. Students are taught to make adjustments in their game, sustaining a rally and strategies for improved play.
Junior Advanced (Ages 10-18)
For juniors interested in playing on either club or school tennis teams or in sanctioned tournament competitions. Instruction and drills are geared toward building explosive all-court players. Physical conditioning and mental toughness exercises will be included to help develop more successful junior tennis competition.
